Meet Elizabeth

“I don’t know how to describe that moment — getting home from the hospital at 11:30 at night on a Saturday, in a snowstorm, and seeing that Taylor from ProResp was already there to make sure everything was going to be okay,” Elizabeth recalled.

Elizabeth is living with cancer and developed breathing difficulties.  She was sent to the ER four times but no one could figure out what was going on. Eventually, she was set up with ProResp for home oxygen therapy and that’s when things began to improve.

“Kristine was making one of her visits and she detected a crackle. Her assessment confirmed my decision go to the hospital to have it checked out and that’s when we learned that my chemo drug was causing an issue in my lungs. I’d lost 40% of my lung capacity. So we changed the dose on my chemo drug and I started thoracic physiotherapy and with ProResp’s support my life is getting back to normal,” said Elizabeth.

Elizabeth likes to garden, bike and be outside. She also has a pool and was worried she would no longer be able to swim, but ProResp made sure she had extra tubing so that her oxygen supply could reach the backyard.

“Being on oxygen, it’s kind of like an anchor and a lifejacket at the same time,” Elizabeth told us. “It weighs you down and stops you from doing things to a certain extent, but it is also the reason you are able to keep doing the things you love. Before the oxygen, I was stuck on the couch. It pretty much gave me my life back,” Elizabeth said.

“I don’t know if there are words to express how grateful I am to the amazing people at ProResp. They are so courteous and respectful. Devin was amazing. He took all the time we needed to make sure we’re comfortable with the liquid oxygen equipment, which was scary at first. But nothing I ask is ever too much. We just feel so lucky to be in the care of our team at ProResp,” added Elizabeth.
