Two years ago, Marlane was experiencing some breathing problems and ended up in hospital. That’s when she was prescribed home oxygen therapy and introduced to ProResp. The experience was eye opening for Marlane.
“Quite honestly, before I was diagnosed, I didn’t even know about oxygen therapy,” she told us recently. “But it’s been a game changer for me. It lets me get out of the house and keep living my life. I can go grocery shopping and to bingo. Sure, it would be better not to have to bring the tanks with me, but in life you’ve got to take the good with the bad,” added Marlane.
On her experience with ProResp, Marlane told us that “Everybody has been so great. I couldn’t say one bad thing about them. I am especially fond of Christina who makes my deliveries. She is so personable and helpful. She always takes the time to make sure I am doing okay and is an all-around great person.”
A few months after we spoke with Marlane, she passed away peacefully at home. It was tough for Christina, who had developed a strong bond with Marlane. “You get to know your clients, they welcome you into their homes and share parts of their lives with you. You care for them and they become like friends. So it’s really hard when their time comes. But it makes me proud to have had a positive impact and helped someone during a difficult time in their life. We helped her live her life on her terms, right up until the end. And her kindness and smile are things that I don’t think I’ll ever forget,” said Christina.
As Marlane said, sometimes “in life you’ve got to take the good with the bad.”
