Brenda and her grandson, Ali, have a special bond. They are both ProResp patients.
“Ali was born with a two chambered heart, so he has been with ProResp since he was a baby,” Brenda told us. “The doctors told us he wouldn’t live past 9. He says ‘I guess I fooled them.’ Today he’s a happy, healthy 20 year old with plans to go to college and work with animals. And now that I’m on oxygen too, he thinks we’re twins! It’s a special bond. We’ve got each other to stand on. We kind of understand each other in a way that others may not.”
Brenda owns a home care business that looks after seniors. And she isn’t letting her breathing challenges slow her down. Even on oxygen, she still goes to work one day a week to look after her clients. And Ali often joins her. “They just love him. He’ll play pool with them talk their ear off,” Brenda joked.
“ProResp have been amazing with me,” Brenda told us. “I wasn’t even home from the hospital for ten minutes and ProResp was at my door. They assessed me and got me all set up and the difference was night and day. When I complained that the oxygen cylinders were too heavy they set me up with little ones the size of a wine bottle that I can carry around with me. Anything I need, ProResp is here in no time.”
