Meet Dom

Second to none.

For over twenty years, Dom has been living with multiple sclerosis (MS), but that hasn’t stopped him from doing what he loves—singing. In 2019, Dom was admitted to hospital and required an emergency tracheotomy. His only question to the doctor: will I still be able to sing? The doctor said in all his years, he had never heard that question, and didn’t make any promises. Two days later, Dom was singing a cover of Johnny Cash’s version of the song Hurt, which his sister recorded on her phone. The video went viral.

But Dom still had a long road to recovery. He was in hospital for nine months and three weeks. When he was finally released and allowed to go home, he chose ProResp as his at-home respiratory therapy provider.

Recently, Dom has taken to performing live at venues around his hometown. Before he starts singing, he needs to have his trach suctioned, and says ProResp has been very helpful with this. Because a respiratory therapist is not always available, they’ve taught his fiancé to perform the suctioning. (Oh yeah, did we mention Dom recently got engaged! To his childhood sweetheart from 30 years ago!)

“Anytime I need something, ProResp has it ready to go,” Dom told us. “They always make sure I have everything I need and backups in case anything goes sideways. And they’re always just a phone call away. ProResp’s services have been second to none,” Dom said.

In addition to pursuing his singing and having just written his first song, Dom wrote a book about his journey with MS and is currently studying to be a social worker and receiving straight As. Well done, Dom. And thank you for sharing your inspiring story with us!
