Meet Nicole

When Nicole was hospitalized for over 100 days (7 weeks of which was in intensive care), she required specialized equipment in order to be allowed to safely return home and continue her recovery.

“At a certain point, like most patients, Nicole reached a point where she would recover better at home and the hospital became risky because other patients are admitted with illnesses.” Nicole’s mom Rose told us.

“For various reasons, we wanted to get Nicole home to continue her recovery,” continued Rose. “But the hospital was struggling to access the equipment needed to send Nicole home. Luckily someone thought to call ProResp, and within two days we had the specialized Airvo machine we needed and brought Nicole home.”

Airvo is a high flow therapy system that delivers warmed and humidified oxygen to patients, which Nicole needed to help recover from the damage her lungs had sustained after her long-term illness.

“Without Wendy from ProResp, Nicole would have been stuck in the hospital,” Rose said. “What Wendy did made it possible for her to come home.”

Nicole’s recovery at home was going smoothly, but an equipment issue threatened to send Nicole back to the hospital. “We could not get the right supplies, so we contacted Theresa at ProResp and within 24 hours she had located what we needed and had it delivered. It was not a big deal to her but to us it was everything. Without that support Nicole would have been back in the hospital.”

Recently, Nicole was weaned off oxygen completely. ProResp stopped by to pick up the equipment and everything is back to normal.

“We are so grateful to everyone at ProResp and all the hospital staff who came together to help Nicole on her road to recovery,” Rose said.

Thank you Rose, and Nicole, for sharing your story.
