Our History

Nothing is Ever Achieved
Without Passion

ProResp was founded in 1981 by Dr. Mitchell A. Baran in London, Ontario. He was born in 1934 to an immigrant family severely affected by the Great Depression. He lost his mother at an early age and suffered from childhood asthma. Through sheer determination and hard work, Mitch became one of Canada’s most successful businessmen making, broad and enduring contributions to the community and respiratory care.

In 1967 he acquired Trudell Medical, a small medical equipment distribution company located in London, Ontario. Under his leadership, Trudell Medical became an internationally renowned distributor of innovative respiratory equipment and products.

Mitch believed success meant focusing on people and delivering clinically proven devices and services that yielded superior patient outcomes. Upon consulting multiple personnel within the respiratory community to improve product design and effectiveness, he realized that home oxygen services lacked patient care. This led Mitch to hire the first Respiratory Therapist to community care. Mitch was guided by the philosophy that “nothing is ever achieved without passion.”

Mitch never forgot his humble beginnings or those who helped him along the way. He passed away in 2015 and is fondly remembered for his philanthropy, kindness and dedication to helping individuals in need. ProResp honours his legacy by staying true to his vision – a passionate focus on people, patient centered-care and community.

Inspired by Mitch’s philosophy, ProResp has developed a proud and distinguished reputation as a professional and innovative organization that lives by its Mission and Values and delivers on promises.
